Lt. Tommy Nolan has enjoyed a relatively quiet life for the past three years. His promotion has taken him away from the streets and away from the line of fire.
But when a training camp for terrorists threatens his city, he’s dragged back into the sulfur. Creatures of the damned are rising, and he’s the only man who can stop them.
Because the heir of Tommy’s ultimate enemy has returned, and he’s bringing with him all the forces of Hell.

This is another fast-paced, action-filled entry in this thrilling series of true good vs true evil. Since time has gone on, five years’ worth, we have new faces, as well as old faces in new roles. I especially liked Barackus in his new role.
I like that old challenges and limitations have workarounds that respect previous rules. I like that the challenges get upped so that even with all of the new abilities, evil is truly a challenge. I also like that when our heroes get in over their heads, that they rely on God, and ultimately it is His grace and actions which are triumphant.
I look forward to the rest of the series (and am very glad that Mr. Finn has an ending in mind and is writing towards it–no stagnant filler books full of action that sends the overarching plot nowhere in this series!), and wonder if we will see any explicit crossovers between this series and others rather than just the implicit ones mentioned.
TL;DR: Bought on Saturday night. Finished on Sunday afternoon.

A solid entry in the series. Lots of action, and some very nice character development for the subordinate characters in the series.
One thing I really liked about this book is that Tommy doesn’t get a pile o’ new powers to overcome the Big Bad. That path rapidly becomes boring (I’m looking at you, Laurell Hamilton!).
Like Dennison (above), I look forward to future entries in the series

Fantastic new book from Declan Finn! With wonderful pacing and demonstrable character growth, the tale of Tommy Nolan has drawn me in from book one and continued doing so up to this current installment.
A great read, and I cannot wait to see how Tommy will continue to deal with the challenges thrown at him. Looking forward to the next book.

Declan Finn never disappoints. Strong plotting and character development.
